Pi left MCP out of its coding agent as the protocol gained adoption

Pi spent much of the past year excluding MCP from its coding agent, according to The New Stack, which reports that one server consumed 18,000 tokens before doing anything. The Hacker News says thousands of developers built MCP servers and enterprises incorporated them into agent workflows after the protocol's 2024 launch.
